About book Taming Mad Max (2000)

2.5 stars I can't say I hadn't liked reading it, but there are so many weak points. As a born and bread Italian I shivered reading the dialogue between Max and Vincent at the restaurant. OhMyGod there wasn't a right word in it! Next time Mrs Ragan if you want to put a couple of words in a foreign language DON'T USE BABELFISH and at least use the Italian Check Spelling for the text! Just an example, RISOTTA doesn't exist in the Italian Dictionary, the right word is RISOTTO.If Mrs Ragan is interested in the correct spelling, well I'm here... I received this book in exchange for a review. I really did enjoy the book, it vaguely reminded me of Susan Elizabeth Phillips' writing, so if you enjoy books that involve sports, humor, and family drama this is the book for you.It all starts out when Max (a football player) thinks he's cursed, the doctors think he's cursed, and the NFL seems to think he's cursed and will die young so they pair him up with Kari, a popular celebrity nutritionist. Kari has a teenaged daughter, Molly, who is present throughout the entire book, as at first you see her as a child, then you see her blossom and take her mom in hand.Come to find out, Max and Kari have a secret past that Max can't remember. What is that past? I'm not telling you. Seriously, why read the book if I tell you EVERYTHING. I will say you'll know within the first three chapters what it is, which is one thing I wish was kept secret just a little longer. I like a big surprise. There is a great back story romance between Kari's friend Lindsay and Max's NFL friend Cole. I do enjoy Lindsay's character quite a bit as she is very upfront, very much her own person. Cole's character grated on my nerves just a little bit as he didn't show much support for what Lindsay wanted out of life. With Max and Kari, I enjoyed both of their characters, however Kari needed to have a little more backbone. Her daughter actually has to take things in hand before you see any going forward in that relationship. It was a nice read, a little giving in the information dept, wish a little bit more was held back instead of letting it all hang out within the first few chapters, but I would definitely want to read any more additional books about the family!
