A pretty good book. It was a bit sentimental in places and sometimes the story seemed to be taking an awful long time to say the same thing over and over again but overall it was a very sweet and romantic love story. I liked the themes the author introduced about how having love in life makes things whole again and brings healing where there used to be brokenness. Cami was an awesome character. I loved her stubborn attitude and her smart-mouthed remarks had me laughing from the first chapter. Stockton was also really interesting and I admire his strength of character for giving up his plans to come home and raise his sister when his parents dies. I hope I'd be able to do the same for my family. All in all this was a pretty good read for an afternoon and I'd recommend it if you're looking a sweet and light-hearted story with a laugh or two along the way. I picked up this book because I am a fan of Lila Felix's writing and have read almost all of her books. This collaboration with Rachel Higginson (who I have never read) WORKS!Though I generally try to avoid books with as much language as Ms. Felix has in her books, the stories are compelling enough and clean enough that I enjoy them. Though I would warn anyone that the language is a bit course at times.The interaction between the characters and the character growth are what initially endeared Lila's style to me and Striking is no exception. Great story, with great characters. Wish it had a little less of the cursing, but that is a personal preference of mine.Clean, strong story I would personally recommend for ages 18+ due to my previously mentioned concerns.
