About book Sin And Sacrifice (2011)

On a night out with her sisters in Crete, Evelyn is thrust into terror when one sister is killed, and she's abducted. Taken to an unknown location, she is tortured until a man she doesn't know breaks in and saves her life by sprinting her off to a secure location. What the man doesn't know is that Evelyn has been kidnapped by members of the Knights of the Templar because she, and her sisters, know the location of the Garden of Eden, knowledge possessed only by the remaining daughters of Eve.So much about the premise is promising. The idea that the first generational children of Adam and Eve somehow survived and still walk among us is interesting, and tying that into Templar lore makes for a fascinating start. Yet, the book always stays too close to the surface to be anything better than middling. The plot is too action driven with not enough deep emotion or true understanding of the characters within. Evelyn and her "savior," Rhett, are too flat. Too good, really.Even the requisite drama is too drama-free. There are a few tense moments, but they are resolved quickly. The ending is almost hurriedly tacked on. A question to an answer, a question still lingering for the sequel and...we're done. I don't know whether I'll bother to read the sequel. As I said, the premise is intriguing, but I don't particularly care for any of the characters, and that's a big problem for me. If nothing else this will be one of those series that I return to when I need a fast read that doesn't require too much thought. When I first downloaded the book and read the synopsis of what the book was going to be about I thought hey maybe this is a historical romance. Boy I was so wrong. LOL. It just goes to show never judge a book by its cover. This book is a modern day romance about five women who if you were to meet them on the street you would assume that they come from different ethnic backgrounds and maybe that true in some sense. But what you don't know is that they are sisters. Each with their own distinct personalities who get together at least once a year to go on vacation. What you find out in this story is that these sisters are the original daughters of Adam and Eve. Who at one time lived in the garden of Eden and who have partake in eating the fruit from the Tree of Knowledge which allows them immorality. The sisters are sent away from the garden of Eden to spread positive good will into the world with their deeds and actions. There were originally over 40 of them but due to the group the Knights Templar who have been in existence for thousands of years later their numbers have dwindled down. Why? They want information that only the Daughters of Eve can provide. Directions to the Garden of Eden to obtain immortality for themselves. This story is the paranormal romance of one of the sisters Evelyn with a handsome blonde lethal CIA agent name Rhett Nichols. There is a instant attraction and pull between them that Evelyn desperately want to avoid. A tragic incident will occur that places Evelyn life in immediate danger and will cause her to depend on Rhett for her own survival. There is also a secret of being the daughter of Eve that she has to keep from Rhett. But Rhett has secrets of his own that once reveal will further complicate the issue of if she would ever trust him again much less have a relationship or future with him. I love the plot and I like the potential of where the story could lead to but how it was executed was flawed a bit. For example the heroine has issues when it came to guns and violence by means of protecting yourself. I would think if you live a thousand years and your sisters are constantly being killed, common sense would tell you find a means of protecting yourself from that fate. The really strange part of it was that her other sisters readily adopted that strategy to protect themselves but Evelyn did not. She kept being surprise that the Templar group could stoop so low in their deeds and yet she has had to deal with Templar's since she left Eden.Another issues that I had with this story was if you know that you are being followed by people who had money and means in high places why would you go to the bank to withdrawal money and not figure out that they could track you that way. Evelyn to me did not have much street smarts or common sense in a lot of things and it was a distraction from the book which is mostly good and definitely worth the read.
