[spoilers?] I'm not even sure...This is my personal opinion and i don't truly mean to offend this book but i seriously don't even know...What did i just read? The entire time i was reading this i just thought "it'll get better!" But nope that never happened! It could have been a good book, the concept and a few of the ideas were good. The language used and the fact you know NOTHING about what happens was what brought it down! The main character still has unfinished business with her "mom", Shirl and a lot of other people! Like why introduce that the "mom" was hiding things and not explain why? Why did the "mom" burn all of her stuff and disown her at the drop of a hat? And yes her and Shirl did apologize over the phone but did Beth go back? What are the Seven Rays anyways? Was what Mary told Richie about Beth having to have kids with all those men true? If it was true why doesn't Beth know? Why did they bother showing the "visions" of the Seven Rays like in the van and not explain it?I have many more questions that haven't been answered therefore i don't even know what to think of this book! Sorry! Haha Okay, it's been about three years since I've read the book, but that honestly doesn't change a thing because I still know that, oh god this book is awful! So awful!The synopsis sounded really compelling to me and I remember that I wanted to read this book so bad, but still had to wait for the release. Then my mom gave it to me for Christmas, but I already had bought it myself and long story short I still have two copies of it. Which sucks because i hate it. Back then (I was 16 I believe) I did not have the highest standards when it came to books or writing styles, but even then I realized what complete garbage this book is. The writing is awful, the plot even worse. I realize that this is not exactly a good review, because I can't tell you once and for all what my problems with this book are, and what's good about it. But as I said, I read it three years ago and there's not a lot I remember about it, except how much I hated the writing and the plot.If you're reading reviews of this book, I guess that means you're thinking about reading it and aren't sure yet. My advice to you: just don't. Seriously, just run the other way and never look back. You won't regret it.
