About book Rude Awakenings Of A Jane Austen Addict (2009)
The second version was interesting, seeing the modern side of the story. The story tied up most of the loose ends and worked out perfectly for all the characters involved. I was expecting the modern character to have more trouble adapting than she did but the situations presented were realistic enough to allow for belief in the storyline. I would recommend this especially as a good set of books for a nice, enjoyable summer read. My husband and I read this together, we are both austen fans. Yes, I read the sequel. I, admittedly, had mixed feelings about the first book, but it was a quick, fun read, all in all, and I wanted to find out what happened to the other girl: the one who was transplanted from Regency England to modern day Los Angeles. Did I actually just type that sentence? Okay, if you are still reading, here are the pros and cons for this installment.Pros: this is rather interesting, but the heroine, who came from the past, appears to be the more secure individual of the two, not as easily manipulated by the men (or women) in her life. Consequently, I thought she made the book more interesting.Cons: I would not be able to actually explain this book to anyone whilst maintaining a straight face...but, that could also be a pro, when you need that type of reading martial. The hero felt less viable in this book.
