About book Rouge Sang, Noir Magie (2011)

I absolutely LOVE Sabina Kane as a main character. She isn't your run of the mill, goody goody heroine that bad stuff happens to. Sabina is a bad girl, she makes mistakes, and a lot of the tragedy surrounding her comes from bad decisions she's made. Her awesomeness comes from her ability to use her intelligence to realize when she's screwed up and then use her bad ass abilities to make things right, she always takes responsibility. I feel a lot of empathy for her and she's so realistic that its easy to slip into her shoes and live out the novel in my imagination. OH THE WORLD BUILDING!! Vampires don't sparkle, they don't want to meet their soul mate and live happily ever after, no, they want power and to feel the blood of humans sliding down their throats. Jaye Wells writes about believable vampires. In the world of Sabina Kane we also see the same prejudices that exist in our world. Each race is suspicious of the other and has reasons why they are superior and the "other" is not, another way these books hit home and feel realistic. In The Mage in Black we see Sabina deal with being amongst another race, meeting her sister, having feelings for 2 men, one she considers unsuitable for her, learning how to use her magic, and being hunted by assassins and her grandmother. The drama is riveting, the action is exciting, and the characters are all easily conjured by your imagination. Sabina's reactions to all the upheaval are true to character and very believable. My 2 favorite parts of this book are Sabina's dialogue (I love the snark and sarcasm) and the description used. Even when setting the scene, Jaye uses Sabina like words and phrases to describe everything, it makes this 1st person POV so easy to follow! This is definitely a must read for all lovers of urban fantasy and bad ass, intelligent, imperfect heroines. 3.5★'sThis was a very fun, easy read. However I had a couple issues with it.Mainly that everything just seemed to happen too quickly, and because of that, some things just didn't really fit for me.Had the story taken place over a couple of months rather than one or two weeks, I think it would have fleshed the story out quite nicely. But as it is, I just got frustrated with Sabina's "not gonna happens" followed with them happening shortly on the heels on her declarations. For most people changes like that don't just happen overnight. Let's not forget the predictability. I was a little sad that it was so easy to foresee exactly what was going to happen, chapter after chapter.Overall, I still enjoyed it, but really wanted more.

Do You like book Rouge Sang, Noir Magie (2011)?

Honestly? I really don't like the cover model. She looks like a mother, not a mage.
