Worst background work on a book ever... As a gay man in the Army, it was cringe inducing every time the PFC called the SSG "Sir" or responded "Sir, yes sir". She couldn't even decide if they were in Iraq, Afghanistan, or Pakistan... COME ON! Iraq is not even close! If you have no respect for a tiny bit of reality in your book and know nothing about the military or cars or war then you may be able to like this book. The story is nice enough. 3.5 starsAce sees new recruit Sonny and knows he’s going to have trouble in the Army so he takes him under his wing. Sonny is a whiz with car mechanics so once home he builds a future for them fixing cars and racing them. Although Ace’s devotion is immediate, the relationship develops slowly. Ace seems to be the sort of person who wants to be needed and Sonny certainly does. This read smoothly and I liked it but neither character felt that real to me. They were too innocent even though they experienced some rough history.
Do You like book Racing For The Sun (2013)?
Not a bad read but not up to Ms Amy's normal standard. She's still got a way with words tho.
