Warning, Spoilers Below!I burned through this book in one evening. Some of the reviews above do make me question the authors motivation for having a protagonist who is "high functioning Aspergers student" I have read "Curious Incident of the Dog in the nighttime" which seems to be a little more grounded in the limitations that autistic people have. While I enjoy the way Colin evolves in the book, it all seemed a little too neat and too fast. I am also not sure why the need for the footnotes, while useful, they felt as if they were set apart from the plot. I found the story funny and would hope there might be a sequel. I see parallels between Colin's hero, Sherlock Holme and himself, especially since I am a big fan of the latest incarnation of the detective, Sherlock. I hope to see Wayne evolve from bully antagonist to a sort of Watson character and am I the only one who sees Rudy T. Moore as Colin's Moriarty? I don't know is a sequel is in the offing, but we have four years of Colin solving the mysteries of High School. I understand it is supposed to be difficult to relate to Colin and his tendencies, but I found the other characters around him a bit overwrought. I have worked in public education for 10 years (including middle and high school) and never has anyone gotten their head stuck in a toilet. Some of the events just seemed overdramatized for the sake of the narrative, which made the entire novel hard to swallow.
