All I can say is that this is one kick-ass fantasy book with amazing characters (and a fantastic cover! Had to throw that in). Prince Jalan, the poser hero who might actually have the makings of a true hero inside, and Snorri, the Viking warrior who is the definition of badass. An awesome start to what I hope ends up being a great series. The only thing I can say is that this is 100% fantasy and 0% romance, so don't go into thinking there's some uber-slow burn. Just two men who are tied together by magic but who become friends on their mission to head North. Pretty much the main reason why I started this book: I wanted something bad to happen to the main character. He irritated me right from the start with his behaviour. Jal is a coward, but at least he honestly admits it. I have to admit it was fun for me to read a book where I only like the main after getting to know him. My only problem with the other main, Snorri, is his name (but maybe it just feels weird because I pronounce it in german)The story is rather amusing (especially because Jal can't get away despite really wanting to) and not too complicated. It's not the kind of book where you feel like crying because you don't understand what's going on anymore - it's a comfortable read.The length is nice, too, which is why it doesn't drag, although some parts could have been written longer.There are, in my opinion, better books than Prince of Fools but I still enoyed it a lot and am looking forward to the next one. If you give it a try, read a bit farther than just the first pages to get a hint of what the story is really like.
