Charlie Beckham, riddled by his reporter brother Jake's mysterious disappearance thirteen years ago, becomes a lawyer with a single aim - to find his missing brother, preferably alive. After years of searching, he finds about a clue left behind by his brother which will solve this mystery. But he is unaware of the dangers he is going to put himself into. Nevertheless, Charlie follows this precious lead and, along the way, receives much needed help from an unexpected man. Brothers and Bones, an interesting mystery thriller, brings out contradictory facets of human behaviour - love and hatred, trust and betrayal, friendship and animosity. James Hankins has written a well-crafted story where each page, with the various turn of events, builds curiosity and I couldn't put down the book without finishing it. As the mystery unfolded, it surprised me with the genius yet simple plan that was the defining factor of this book. This is a fun read. A boy loses his parents, is brought up by his brother who disappears without a trace. Boy always suspects the hand of the mafia in his brother's disappearance, so he grows up to become a lawyer and eventually an ADA. One day, actually on the opening day of his biggest case, he is called out to by a name only his brother knew by a homeless person. Who is the homeless person? Is he the brother? The boy, now a man, has to follow arcane clues and trust strange people to find out the truth behind his brother's disappearance. Real fun, if a bit shallow.
