Rarely have I read a book like this. It was the best one in the thriller genre that I have read in over a year. It started weak and I was willing to give it a chance and it didn't take long before the pull started! Pulled me in slow and intense until the end without letting go. The best part was it was a 2 dollar book on Amazon for my ipad and I was willing to spend a couple bucks to try a new author, what a payoff! I have paid 20-30 dollars for some hardbacks by authors I have liked that didn't get this good or even come close. I will have to crush some I suppose later. It is about law, the mafia, corruption, homelessness, romance and plenty of other elements all tossed in and the heat added slowly to it until it becomes a boiling suspense piece. Lots of twists and turns. I enjoyed the ride and it was a page turner, couldn't put it down kind of read. I usually read to go to sleep but I lost sleep with this. I will be reading more from Mr Hankins. Even though I enjoyed it so much, if I was a critic; which I am not, and talked writing styles, this is in a much more simplistic style than say a "Dave Robicheaux" type story. It was mixed with more action and suspense than descriptive writing and fine prose.I rate by the ride. this was great. Just finished reading this amazing book. It was like a great roller coaster ride..One minute you think you know who did it, then next it was off in another direction.Charlie Beckhman is a Federal Prosecutor who is on his way to the topwith the upcoming trial of a mobster..Charlie is always searching for his missing brother, Jake of 13 years..Then right before the trial starts, a homeless man enters his life with words that would changeis life! "Thanks Wiley" and the only one who knew this name for himwas his brother..Could Jake still be alive, could this homeless man be Jake?Well that's the start that will keep you guessing all the way through!I will definitely check out more books by James Hankins and recommendthis one to all my friends.
