About book Mein Schlankes Ich: Befreien Sie Ihre Natürliche Figur - Schluss Mit Lebenslänglich Abnehmen (2000)
Basically, this book seems to teach intuitive eating. Her rules are very helpful guidelines for people who fear food or have obessions with food. However, many of her rules could easily be abused by those with eating disorders. I used to abuse the first rule, "Your Diet is Your Bank Account", and balance by binging one day and starving myself the next. And when I read rule five and downsized my portions, I went crazy, because I already ate such small portions. Overall, Bethenny's insight is worth reading. She has many helpful tips. I've owned the book since it was released and still go back to it. I believe it can be very helpful, but I caution all readers to follow her rules lightly, not obsess even more and use her tips to justify starving yourself. I recommend this book to many people I personally know struggling to lose weight. I really appreciated Frankel's approach to eating a balanced diet. Her "rules" are great because they are flexible and can be applied to any lifestyle. However, at times the book almost crosses the line between a healthy balanced diet and disordered eating. For example, the title itself "skinny girl" and Frankel's food diary don't necessarily encourage a healthy relationship with food. I think this book offers some great guidelines for balanced eating but I would skip it if you have a history of disordered eating.
