This book was so well written I cannot wait to read the rest of the series. This is a prequel to the rest of the books in this series and had parts of the three main characters' lives interwoven in the book. Just enough of a tease for each that you want to make sure you pick up the rest of them just to see what happens.The three main characters are:1. Adam - a Marine who lost his wife and is heading back to the war zone;2. Damian - a busboy who enlists in the Marines after meeting a woman he can't stop thinking about and is injured in a war zone;3. Marco - son of a ski resort owner and brother of a Marine killed in action who enlists in the Navy but becomes a "doc" to a Marine regiment who gets injured in a war zone.These three mens' lives become entangled in Iraq but their back stories are told before they meet. Each one has a reason for joining and, after they are discharged, they become a family, of sorts and business partners.The rest of the series will go into more depth. First up is Adam's book and I cannot wait to see how he and Karla come together. Even though this book is the first one in the series I have read the second and third ones before it. At the time I didn't realize that 'Nobody's Angel' was the second one. Personally I enjoyed Nobody's Angel, however I was way more interested in Adam and Karla's story which means after I finished it I quick and bought 'Nobody's Hero'. That one was by far my favorite because like I said I loved Adam and Karla together. That being said I loved this book as well. I finally got to see how they met and how he saved her. I don't have to wonder anymore! I actually wound up liking Damian a lot more then I thought I would as well. I haven't decided yet if I like him enough to buy his story though. I thought it was nice that there was a rather long "chapter" for each character that gave you the background story and I also appreciated that it went into detail about how they basically became a family.
