It's Christmas, David is a cute story about a young boy named David. It is very similar to David Shannon's prior booked called No, David. It's the same type of idea where everything that David does he seems to get in trouble or yelled at for. His mom is always telling him things that he shouldn't be doing such as "no peeking" when he looks for his presents, "no snitching" when he reaches for cookies, "be patient" as he wait in line to see Santa and many other little things that he shouldn't be doing. On Christmas Eve, he dreams that santa came but did not leave him anything under the tree. He wakes up relieved that it was just a dream and goes to the tree and finds lots of Christmas gifts from Santa. David has a great Christmas thrilled with all of his new toys. This is a cute story to read to young children ages 2-6 around Christmas time. There are many activities that could go along with this story in a preschool or Kindergarten classroom. Super cute story! It’s Christmas time and David is so excited he does not know how to behave himself. As everyone is preparing for this Christmas celebration, David is doing what he knows best, and getting himself in all sorts of trouble. His parents keep threatening him with the idea that Santa will bring him a lump of coal if he does not behave. There is one particular scene in this story in which they show many children running away, as we see David standing still in the middle of a snow covered yard, and a broken window. This example demonstrates how this particular story lends itself perfectly well for having young children make inferences and teaching them other important reading comprehension skills such as making connections, inferring, and drawing conclusions.
