Writing: 3Story: 3Satisfaction: 4More of a 3.5 than a solid 4 but still an entertaining read.Lucy decides to seduce her crush of the last 9 years before he can propose to another. Unfortunately, having been unable to make her ton debut and lacking any skills in seduction, she decides to practice with her brother's friend, the unlucky Jeremy, Earl of Kendall. As the target, Jeremy can't help but to start to see her as more of a woman and less of the girl that's been following them around for years. He also starts wanting her to be his. I think the best part of this book is that it doesn't end with a marriage. The marriage happens midway and then the conflict escalates after that. Other reviewers have said that they liked the first half better but I felt the opposite way. I liked Lucy finding her own two feet better than Lucy continually pining after her old crush. I really like Dare's writing style and I'm surprised to find out that this is her debut novel. It's a fluid story with believable characters. I was totally pleased by the book. The debut novel of Tessa Dare is brilliant and involving in every possible way and the first half of the book is so funny I found myself laughing hard! The second part of the book (after the marriage) is still quiet good but I had problems inderstanding the hero's behaviour sometimes. Lucy is desperately trying to help him and he always treats her very badly. I get that he was worried for her and everything but damn, try to be nice! Oh another thing that felt a bit off: lucy realizing that she doesn't love Toby afterall. I think the process should have been a little more gradual.
