About book Les Ailes Du Mal (2013)

action pact and full of adventures it shows the life a normal teenage girl facing normal problems but with a twist of the responsibility of saving the world, and ultimate archangel glory. I finished this trilogy in a week if that shows anything :D. I really got sucked into this book and it felt like it was a whole other life where if I didn't go to school then I wouldn't be totally iniallated by a random parent:D this book was so awesome!!!! I mean this in the most complimentary way, but this is a book that shouldn’t work. At least theoretically, because there are a million and a half books out there featuring female protagonist A, male protector B, and some supernatural element C (usually having to deal with Angels and Demons because that seems to be the trend now). This book kind of should have gotten lost in a sea of other similar books, but for some reason, honestly some of them I can’t figure out, this book seems to rise to the top. Like the crème. I love this series, and I really liked this book, though I thought the first was superior, and the author really has managed to stand out.I think what I like best is the relationship between Ellie and Will. Again, forbidden love isn’t exactly original, but the author manages to give their relationship real depth. I really helps that they have five hundred years of history, and we get to see it. Normally I pretty much detest flashbacks, probably because I detest amnesia tropes and authors are usually forced to go the way of flashbacks when they write themselves into those types of corners, but it really worked here. There were just enough to get by, and just enough information provided to truly begin to understand the complexities of the relationship between them.I’m not going to lie, however, I was holding my breath a few times through this book. Like the near rape scene? I was more than holding my breath. I was getting ready to rage. Too many authors think this is an acceptable plot device to catapult a relationship between two characters. Rape should never be glamorized for ANY reason, but the point of it in this book wasn’t to make it seem like Ellie needs Will, or that Will is madly in love with Ellie. It was really, at least to me as the reader, to show that even when a character is madly powerful, divine in their power even, they’re still susceptible to normal acts of violation and violence, especially when they’re trapped in a human body. That’s also why I appreciated the scenes between Ellie and her “father”. Because it’s true that no matter how old you get, or how powerful you are, you’re still susceptible like that. You can still be overpowered by your emotions and what family represents.I think I liked this book so much because it had a lot of heart. I mean, don’t get me wrong, Ellie is still wildly immature. I was really hoping she’d grow up, but nope, there she goes, getting jealous in a really petty and juvenile way, and there she is, ignoring logic, reason and sanity. But underneath it all, there’s nothing but heart here. The kind that you find in platonic relationships, and also the kind you find in romantic. That’s really nice to see. Normally I’d complain about the ending, because I really detest those kinds of cliffhangers, but it really works, because there really is no peril. There’s really no chance that Will is going to die. Or … could he … I don’t want to think about that. This book isn’t perfect. And I continue to believe that the first book was far superior, but this book is a fun, quick read. I loved the heart of the book, the relationships, the growing depth of the plot, and most of all, Cadan. I bow down to the author for proving that it’s possible to introduce a character who is in love with another character, and humbly takes rejection. No jealous fits, not violent behavior. Just acceptance. THANK YOU. You’d think YA these days needs to have the kind of drama, but it would be better off without it, and this proves it. So I’m giving this a strong four stars, and hoping that the next will be bumped completely up to five.
