About book Le Portail Du Diable (2014)

Dr. Seremela Telemar,a Medusa Wyr, has been called to resolve her sister Camilla and niece Vetta's dispute. Seremela loves her family but truly wishes sometimes that her sister would solve her own problems instead of hiding behind her inability to stand conflict. Seremela dreaded emailing Carling and Rune about this family emergency. Yet when Duncan Turner shows up on her doorstep offering to help she's stunned and speechless. Upon learning that Seremela is traveling to Devil's Gate alone he puts his foot down. Duncan Turner, a powerful attorney and Vampyre, loves the little reactions he gets from Seremela. He especially loves her intelligence and unassuming ways as well as her gentleness. Duncan and Seremela arrive at Devil's Gate to learn that Seremela's niece Vetta is scheduled to be hanged the following morning. They need to act quickly but not everything or everyone in Devil's Gate is helpful or friendly. They learn that Vetta is apparently Tarot Reader but tuck that piece of information away until later. Will they leave with Vetta? What is the significance of tarot cards? Will either Duncan or Seremela admit their feelings? Your answers await you in Devil's Gate. 4/5; 4 stars; A-I was so happy to see Duncan and Seremela get their own story. I really enjoyed seeing how Harrison would handle a Medusa, her snakes, and a partner. Somehow, she made the snakes cute and cuddly. I've always like the character of Seremela, ever since she was introduced in Storm's Heart. She did not disappoint. I wish this book had been a little longer and maybe had a bit more than a cameo from Rune and Carling.
