Terry Goodkind has moved past his prime with the last few books (Omen Machine, the Law of Nines, the Third Kingdom) But this one surprised me. I loved this book. It was just as good as Sword of Truth, and it brought us back to the wars, the origin of everything. If you wanted to know about where the Seeker came from, or where the Confessor came from, and how the Sword of Truth came to be... look no further. I downloaded this book as soon as it came out because I was so eager to read about the first confessor...and I am just now finishing it. I stopped and restarted this book so many times, I found it extremely hard to really get into it. While I'm glad I finally stuck with it and finished it, I find myself kind of disappointed with it. First off, the first half of the book is pretty boring and involves Magda going around the Keep talking to various people. Everything that we learn in the first part is somewhat important to the plot, but Goodkind drags it out, especially the part with the spiritist. When the action does finally pick up, Goodkind will needlessly interrupt it to have the characters spend 20 or 30 pages discussing something that is a) not important at the moment, b) has already been discussed multiple times, c) is so blatantly obvious a toddler could figure it out or d) all of the above. There is so much repetition in this book I at times found myself telling the characters to shut up. I think what I found most disappointing about the book was its predictability. Rather than really learning about Merritt and Magda and how they were unique, the reader basically discovered that Richard and Kahlan are carbon copies of them. Even the way he described how Magda found herself mesmerized by Merritt's eyes is pretty much word for word how Kahlan describes Richard's. Richard, Kahlan, Nathan, Nicci, Jagang, Zedd...they're all present in this book, they just have different names. The traitor is also obvious from the first few chapters, they might as well have had a sign on their forehead. The bottom line is, if you're expecting a SOT book that will keep you guessing, this is not it. If you enjoy it for what it is, background information, you'll be happy.
Do You like book La Leggenda Di Magda Searus (2013)?
After reading the many books by Terry Goodkind , think this One has to be my favourite. Throughout the series there were references to many characters from history and Terry has brought those characters to life.I am so glad I took his his advice and read this book before starting the Third kingdom. Though I am a bit worried about his comment about Kahlan, Its not going to stop rereading! In this book as with the others you cant help but feel every injustice outrage and accomplishment the main character Magda endures.Find Truth. Choose life. Read this book and if you haven't read any of Terry Goodkinds books start here and be hooked. Thanks so much for letting us all be apart of this world and reminding us what is important in our lives here and NOW.

This book kept me captivated until the end. It's a great addition to the sword of truth series.
