This was a short novella showing Cinder's experience when she first came into the Linh household. Unfortunately, the father caught the incurable sickness and she was left with her stepmother and two stepsisters. Her stepmother and one stepsister, Pearl, showed obvious distaste for her right from the start, but the other sister Peony took to Cinder right from the start. Once the father was taken away, you know that Cinder is in for a rough life. Nice to see some background from this period. Glitches is a prequel novella to the Cinder novel. Cinder is just a young girl in this novella, just getting used to her prosthetic robotic limbs and getting to know her new step family. Peony, the only one who doesn’t seem to care that Cinder is Cyborg, befriends Cinder immediately, while Adri and Pearl turn up their noses at the new girl, not wanting a Cyborg in their home or life. Garan, the man who brings Cinder to New Beijing from Europe doesn’t have much to do with Cinder after bringing her back but tries to have his family like her.Getting used to new cyborg parts, Cinder tries to figure out herself and her new body parts as well as her new family. Glitches was a great novella and look into the young main character before she becomes the mechanic and cyborg she is in the first novel of the Lunar Chronicles.
