About book Il Bacio Di Fuoco (2012)

This was my favourite story of the Midnight Breed series yet. I was completely addicted to the, staying up late the last night to finish the book. The story was focused on Jenna and Brock and followed on from the previous book, (No 7). I liked the fact that this one was not exactly a Breed meets Breedmate story, like the others in the series. The intensity and speed of the written action, Adrian kept you hooked with every page. Needless to say Dragos makes an appearance, causing increasing problems to the order, which at the end of the book the Breedmates no-less resolve.I would certainly recommend this book to the series lovers, and also vampire story lovers. A must read. This was a really good installment of the Midnight Breed series. I enjoy watching the Order as they get closer and closer to defeating Dragos in each book. With some series, the author will drag out a story arch for several books with no clear progression. With these, each book has made a definitive step forward towards the ultimate goal and that keeps the series fresh and entertaining. Adrian is really good with the pacing in her series. The only thing that didn't add up for me with this book was that we didn't get a clear answer as to what was happening to Jenna. The resolution didn't fulfill it's potential. Here, Adrian had a perfect opportunity to explain how the Breed Mates came into existence and she didn't use it. Instead, we're left with a hasty resolution that Jenna's changes will probably slow her aging so that she and Brock can have a long relationship. That's fine, but what about the blood bond that most mates have? It was brought home how important that connection is when the women were in trouble and their mates could sense the women's distress. But Brock had no idea that Jenna was in trouble. She could have died and he never would have known. So, if Adrian would have had the Ancient turn Jenna into a Breedmate, not only would it have been a happier resolution for Brock and Jenna, it could have provided an answer, for the readers, as to how Breedmates are able to be compatible with the Breeds, and where they came from. There's always been a clear distinction that those women are more than just human, so how did they get that way? So, on the one hand, I have to commend Adrian for making each novel in the series serve a clear purpose for the story arch, and on the other hand, I am seriously disappointed that she let such a golden opportunity pass by. Maybe, Jenna will continue to transform in future novels, and we'll gain new information from it. But, for now, I am not satisfied with the ending in this novel. The rest of the book was great, though.

I love these books but seriously I wish the ancient had killed Jenna.
