About book Hatching Twitter: A True Story Of Money, Power, Friendship, And Betrayal (2013)

I enjoyed this book very much and learned a lot about the techie culture and start-up ventures, which I knew nothing about prior to reading this book. How sad it was that the co-founders of Twitter suffered so much pain along the way as the company grew and expanded in a short period of time. I liked that Nick Bilton talked about each co-founder in the last chapter of the book. He wrote about what they were doing and what they learned from their Twitter experience. Nick showed that each man was able to move forward in their life after Twitter. Great book! Reading about recent history is a lot of fun as you can correlate what you are reading to your own memories of events being discussed. Twitter is a product that I have used and closely followed since 2008. This fascinating story of how it started and the fight between the founders for control over the company is fascinating. I was one of those who was lapping up what the media served, and it was great to understand how these events actually played out. Nick Bilton doesn't rate Jack Dorsey highly and he makes that unambiguously clear towards the later part of the book. At times, he does seem biased against him. I was most fascinated by the actions of Biz Stone, who comes across as the moral force behind Twitter. I hope I get to read more books in the tech history genre soon.
