As much as I loved Shane, totally adored him and his huge heart, I just could not warm up to Mikhail. I felt for Mikhail when it came to his mother but he drove me crazy with how he spoke to Shane, even though I knew what he was saying was just part of a facade. I loved seeing all the guys from the first book, loved it this story was taking place somewhat along the same timelines, and most of all LOVED how the family all came together to help each other. Shane was a complete sweetheart and there's no way I couldn't love someone who would name their pet Jensen Ackles LOL! Looking forward to Jeff's book. Really this is a 3.5♥'s. So I think I waited a little too long to start book 2. It took me quite a while to get all the characters straight in my head again. Especially since the Prologue is what happened to Shane before he makes his entrance into the Pulpit and he was a minor player at the end of book 1. Once I got that straightened out it was a much smoother ride. Shane is a cop from LA that was outed in the locker room at work by his very first boyfriend and fellow cop who leaves him hanging in the wind. LA Police send Shane into a situation without backup for which Shane ends up in the hospital. When he comes home to his empty apartment and no one visited him - he decides it's time for a move. Mikhail is a dancer in the Ren Fair with Shane's sister to help him make extra money for a promise he has made to his dying Mother. He has had his own problems in the past while growing up in Russia. His Mother finds a way for him to get out and they come to America. Mikhail has made a promise to himself to live his life alone and find hook ups when they come up. Shane does not do one night stands and he is looking for something more lasting. Mikhail is shocked when Shane tells him he is going to court him. While it was fun to be back with these characters I'm wondering if Amy Lane is the MM version of Kristen Ashley. Now I love Kristen Ashley but, man, her books are usually about 50-75pgs too long. That is how this felt. One thing after another until we get to their HEA. Still a good story with a bunch of wonderful characters. I'm hoping she makes a story for Jeff - he cracks me up.
Do You like book Haciendo Promesas (2013)?
The story lost appeal for me the second time Shane said he had an "equal opportunity pecker."
