Three and a Half Stars This is actually a hard review to write for me... I'm on the fence as to what to rate the book. Here is why...Seth (our main character) is supposed to be the next Don. I had such a hard time with this because the kid is such a puss that I don't understand why his father chose him.. But I suppose we'll find out as the story progresses.Domenico (our other primary character) was hot. I loved him and his bad ass attitude. In a way I felt sorry for him for being stuck with Seth. Their relationship only worked for me because Seth was SO a bottom (even though he swore up and down that he was a top). Then there is the Mafia side of things. The book fit in the category for me as Dom is prepping Seth for his ascension. I really hope we get some clarity about Seth's fathers choices in part 2 because that was one of the hardest parts for me to understand (and get through).Lastly, the length. Good gosh did it take me forever to get through this book. While I absolutely loved the writing style and the scenes were good too, it just felt like there was so much time spent in each scene that the story stood still and I had to keep putting it down because I'd get tired of seeming like we weren't really getting anywhere. All in all, not a bad read and I'll read the follow up so I can find out what happens to these two. I really did feel like the synopsis over shot quite a bit as I didn't think the story was all that gritty or violent or even really enemies to lovers. Sure, Seth wasn't always besties with Domenico, but I wouldn't say they were even close to enemies.I was given this in return for an honest review by Inked Rainbow Reads.Renee I was given this copy free by the author for an unbiased review. The book begun with Seth , the Don's son being held captive and tortured by the Triad. Some days later he is ransomed and is collected by his childhood friend Dom and is told that he is leaving New York and returning to Italy. There on the night before his mother's funeral he is informed by his father that he is going to be named as his successor.Seth will have Dom as his bodyguard and they are to leave for Berlin where Don will begin Seth's training. They have to trail Vera, who set Seth up to be kidnapped. The blurb about this book certainly drew me in. Incest was probably the hook for me. However, although it's mentioned a couple of times, I kinda actually forgot they were half brothers.Yes, there were bits of violence but it did not overshadow what I considered what is going to be I hope, a great love story between Dom and Seth.I also have to say I felt so sorry for Peter and I hope he will get his HEA.I can't wait to read book 2 and the rest of the series.A promising start.
