About book Good Girls Don't - Gadis Baik-Baik (2013)
Luke Asher is a detective investigating the robbery of Tessa Donovan’s family brewery. Tessa develops an attraction to the handsome cop. Unfortunately, he doesn’t notice her because he has other things on his mind… rumors are swirling that he’s the father of his partner Simone’s unborn child. Most of these rumors are malicious falsehoods, and I started feeling sorry for Luke.Tessa herself has an interesting back story. Her parents died in a tragic accident when Tessa was only fourteen, which makes her character sympathetic. Sometimes she had to take care of her brothers because of their occasional immaturity. It’s a small world after all, because coincidentally Tessa’s older brother Jamie has known Luke personally since college. Jamie knows about the skeletons in Luke’s closet and tells Tessa about it. She’s afraid to trust Luke after hearing her brother’s disclosure, and afraid of getting her heart broken, which is understandable. She has enough on her mind without worrying about Luke’s questionable past.I found too many character flaws with Jamie Donovan, he wasn’t very likable. Part of Jamie’s problem is that he’s a skirt-chaser, and he screws up an important business deal. Likewise Tessa wasn’t perfect and had her own annoying flaws. Having said that, she has made gallant attempts at keeping peace in her family, and playing referee between her battling brothers. In addition she helped a great deal with the family business.I’ve mixed feelings about Good Girls Don’t. Character flaws make for realistic characters in my opinion. Flaws aren’t all bad, and it’s better than having the Mary Sue personality.Mostly I did enjoy the developing romance between Tessa and Luke, their chemistry was hot and their relationship realistic. I think my favorite character in the book was Luke. I was really impressed with how likable he was and sympathetic to his many plights, including those pesky unfounded rumors about him.Overall I liked the story. I really enjoyed this book! Tessa was a likeable main character. Though she does some things that are a little shady, morally-speaking, her reasons are understandable and believable. The interaction between her and Luke is great, the chemistry is totally there and the sex was hot! And I loved that Ms. Dahl kept us sort of on edge about his past. Normally it's easy to figure out what the hero's backstory is fairly early on in romance/erotica because they wear it all on their sleeve. But Luke kept his touch of mystery for awhile and I liked that a lot!I tore through this book in one day and moved on to #2 in the series. I'm definitely a fan of Ms. Dahl now and will be searching out her other work too... once I'm done with the Donovans!

Good overall story, but I found her characters in the Tumble Creek series much more intriguing.
