About book Gündüzsefası (2014)

Overall I liked the story... But as it went on, I became more interested in Penny's life than Ada's. The present day felt a bit forced, or something. It was clear that Ada and Alex would work out. The accident James and Ella suffered was awful, I didn't imagine that coming, so it was nice to watch Ada heal. But Penny's story had so much more intrigue. I would have loved to heard more from her point of view once she was under the dock and escaping. The twist of Alex being her's and Colin's son was a nice touch, though in that contrived-happy-ending sort of way. And who was Edith?! Was she really included just to offer some sage advice to the young newbie on the dock? Henrietta could have been found anywhere. Were she and Elliot characters from another of Jio's books? That brief interlude of a story line had a beautiful quote but I'm not sure how it fit in with the rest of the novel. A light romancey story, fine to listen while cutting the lawn of cleaning the pool. I get it that she learned that the metal hook on the dock is a cleat, but boy she overused that word as well as houseboat--couldn't Ada just go HOME once in awhile. And I wonder how it was that she rented a houseboat from the daughter of her NYC analyst and then it ended up belonging to Dexter's daughter? How the heck did that happen?I like being on the water and I like happy endings, but I am looking forward to switching to Jeffrey Archer.

Completely engaging, if somewhat predictable story. A perfect summer read. I thoroughly enjoyed it.
