About book Friends Without Benefits (2013)

This was probably my least favourite novel in the Knitting in the City series. Something was amiss. I found the protagonists - dr Elizabeth Finney and Nico Manganiello - a famous comedian - quite bland. Elizabeth's incessant self-flagellation was annoying me and I thought she was a bit pathetic at times. And I didn't think there was much chemistry between them, and while Nico was supposed to be such a funny guy, I haven't laughed ones at anything he said or did. Obviously, that's just a personal opinion. The novel isn't terrible, but it just didn't do it for me - like the other novels in the series. The term Friends Without Benefits doesn't illicit thoughts of much fun, but I was pleasantly surprised with how witty the heroine, Elizabeth, was. I instantly fell in love with Nico, he was just the sweetest; the way he cared for his niece and mother, how he carried a torch for Elizabeth for all those years, his swoon worthy heart-felt words to Elizabeth...he's everything a book boyfriend should be. I absolutely loved the sweet ending and even sweeter epilogue!! And even though I read this book as a stand alone, I'll probably now go back and read the first book in the series, and every book after as well as I really liked this group of girls :)
