About book Flight Of The Phoenix (2009)

For a young man who has only ever "felt the smallest beginning of an adventerous spark," finding himself in the custody of an aunt whom he never knew about after the loss of his parents, Nathaniel is in for the adventure of a lifetime: the birth of a Phoenix, which only happens every 500 years! Discovering that he comes from a long line of adventurers and Beastologists is quite a shock but the beginning of a new life.Great for readers age 7-12...although I'm anxiously awaiting my copy of Book 2! After Nathaniel finds out that his parents have died at sea, he is sent to live with a distant cousin who is the last of the world's beastologists, who takes care of mythical creatures. In this first book in the series, Nathaniel helps Aunt Phil to save a phoenix and rescue her from Bedouin tribesmen who kidnap her for trespassing. A mildly interesting book that ends with some questions unanswered, such as what happened to Nathaniel's parents and the letters they probably sent to him. This short and easy to read story is recommended for struggling readers who like fantasy and mythical creatures.
