About book Die Runen Der Macht - Der Verfluchte Prinz (2013)
Interesting story. I liked the action and the characters, and I even found the odd lusty relationship between Sorcha and Raed kinda interesting for some reason and I don't know why because I hate lusty relationships. O______O; (Sorcha's even cheating on her current hubby!!! Tsk tsk, BAD GURLY. And smoking is bad for you by the way. *dodges lethal attacks*)I had a hard time picturing scenes. I think this is one of those books that I’ll have to read a few times in order to fully grasp and understand the world building. :)I don't have a favorite character, but Sorcha is... an interesting gal. For some reason she kind of reminds me of Lighting from Final Fantasy XIII (LOL) Maybe it’s her fiery and difficult-to-get-along-with attitude. But she's still cool! This book is for adults only. (Seeeeeeex... *cough*) I thought this book was OK, but it could have been better. Some thoughts:- I thought the author did an awful lot of 'telling' rather than 'showing' and it constantly took me out of the story. - I couldn't really warm to any of the characters. Sorcha was annoying. She constantly needled the other characters for no real reason, and then acted put out when they called her out on it. But at least she made an impression! Merrick was kinda sweet, but I got sick to the teeth of hearing how beautiful he thought Nynnia was. I didn't feel much of anything for Raed, beyond a slight sympathy for his family curse. If he was supposed to be giving off a 'sexy pirate' vibe, it completely bypassed me.- None of the relationships that develop between the characters felt particularly convincing. It felt like they were there because the author needed them to be there, rather than relationships that grew organically. I suppose this goes back to my point above about none of the characters particularly 'shining' for me.- I'll give some kudos for the plot. I thought the world-building and story development were well-done. It's just a shame that I always prize character development over plot every single time.Overall, it's not a terrible book, but I don't think I'll continue with the series. It was one of those books that, once you've put it down, you don't feel especially inclined to pick it up again. However, it's less than 300 pages, so I made myself finish it and I don't regret reading it. However, I think if it had been a 600 page tome, it would have been a DNF.
Do You like book Die Runen Der Macht - Der Verfluchte Prinz (2013)?
Sadly, despite the interesting premise, the best this book could get out of me was "meh".
