About book Die Goldenen Türme (2009)

This was a very exiting book about futuristic London, where main character Mika is forced to live in a dark, damp, moldy, crowder place called The Shadows. The Shadows are under the Golden torrents, which is where all the rich people live. All the people are forced to like behind a fifty feet wall lined with electrified razor wire and bores in the northern hemisphere because of an animal plague which made animals attack humans. the rest of the world is said to be covered with poison yellow dust meant to kill everything Suddenly the YDF (Youth Development Foundation) sets up a program which forces Mika, who's twin sister Ellie was kidnapped, to drink Fit Mix with all other kids. They are also forced to play Pod Fighter which teaches them how to fly. Mika who figures out something is going on is resistant. The YDF set up a competition where the best pod fighter players compete. Mika teams up with Audrey and they go all the way to the finals where instead of playing Pod Fighter they get weird tests performed on them. In the end Mal Gorman, Ellie's captor, uses Mika and other mutants to spy on the World Conservation program, who faked the animal plague in order to save nature and the world. All the other kids are used as clones to fight and win the world back. The Roar, by Emma Clayton, was an extremely entertaining book. It is a Sci-Fi set on a future earth, where humankind is living inside of a large overcrowded city. All animals have gone rabid, and so the only safe place is in the city. It has an intriguing plot and kept me up at night, reading. The book raised some few issues, like how schools becoming fascist, and video games becoming war game, but they are not the whole point of the book. It explores some interesting possibilities of future technology and is just a fun but deep read. Overall, I would suggest this book to anyone, even people who haven't read much Sci-Fi.
