Hace mucho leí el primer libro de esta serie y no me dejó un recuerdo profundo ni ganas de leer la continuación, así que cuando me hice con este libro, ni pensé que tuviese que ver con otros. De hecho, no entiendo porqué la serie se refiere a los Reid, cuando los siguientes 3 libros que la componen están protagonizados por la familia Mackon.Misterios editoriales aparte, este libro se puede leer perfectamente sin haber leido los anteriores, lo cual siempre es una ventaja cuando sigues sin tener ganas de leer los anteriores. Lo que me llamó la atención, que un hombre fuese un casamentero y además no perteneciera a la nobleza, hizo que mantuviese mi interés, si bien no entendí en absoluto la atracción entre los protagonistas. Es decir, cuando esta ya existe es creíble, pero el proceso entre su aparente antipatía previa y la atracción que después sienten... no fue muy convincente a mi modo de ver.El misterio del origen de Devin y quién quiere matarlo no estuvo tampoco mal, aunque al principio me parecía absurdo su aparente incapacidad de darse cuenta de que estaban atentando contra él. Por suerte, después se demostró que no era así, lo que me reconcilió un poco con esa parte del personaje. Por último, que lo contrataran para que ella se casara (con otro, claro) también se resolvió muy bien, de hecho mucho mejor de lo que me esperaba, así que eso, y lo fácil que fue su lectura, hicieron que valiese la pena. Overall, I enjoyed this book. Johanna Lindsey was the first author I ever deemed my "favorite" when a friend introduced me to her novels in high school. This is the first I've picked up in awhile. While I enjoyed the story and the characters were well developed as always, there was something off about the style of this book that I just can't quite put my finger on. One of the main things that stuck out to me was the excessive use of exclamation points. This seems to me a rookie author mistake I don't recall noticing in her earlier novels. I had the thought more than once during my reading that it felt as though a ghost writer penned this book in a poor attempt at Ms. Lindsay's signature style. I'll state again that I did enjoy this book overall. But it was a disappointment in regards to the writing quality I've come to expect from a J.L. bodice ripper.

I've read most of Lindsey's book and had grown tired of "recycled" characters. I enjoyed this one.
