Weer eens een novella die ik wel goed vond. Deze novella is precies wat een novella naar mijn idee zou moeten zijn. Ik vond het fijn geschreven en een boeiend, mysterieus verhaal waardoor ik er van overtuigd ben dat ik de hele serie wil gaan lezen. Ook was het een verhaal wat goed op zich zelf kan staan, het voelt niet als te kort en niet als te lang, het was echt precies goed en dat is bij de meeste novella's niet het geval. Ik geef deze novella 3,5 sterren. That was gruesome.Bardugo is a great storyteller, and as a writer, she weaves in many interesting details to round out the story. However, I think that, as in the case of Cashore, whose writing I appreciate but whose weird romance makes it hard for me to fully love it, I appreciate Bardugo's writing but have a hard time with the violence and its dark elements. This is an imaginative folk tale, and well-written, but not one I really enjoyed.
