About book Cruising Attitude: Tales Of Crashpads, Crew Drama, And Crazy Passengers At 35,000 Feet (2012)

I have been focused on job/memoir books as of late (see my recent past reads). I saw this book online and was intrigued as to how anyone can write a whole book on a seemingly simple job. I have never had any desire to be in this industry and after reading this book.....still do not. I was, however, pleasantly surprised by the detailed look at the flight attendant training program (who knew how competitive it was to serve drinks and put up luggage in the air?!) and sorted tales of rude, inappropriate, and bizarre behavior (seen that in action myself). Apparently, for the author and her crew, that is part of 'flying the friendly skies.' My original take on this career was simply waitresses in the sky however, the author examines many other aspects in an entertaining and light manner. I did enjoy the 'journey' that the author documented and I look forward to another one of her books possibly highlighting her experiences in foreign lands (as she has gained seniority by the end of this book)....no worries folks... not a spoiler! I got about halfway through this book and then found more interesting stuff to read. Nothing wrong with the book, it was entertaining and interesting, but it just didn't live up to my expectations having just finished reading "Heads in Beds". I found it to be much less informative about the industry as a whole, with no tips that I would find valuable as a customer/passenger - far more focused on Poole's personal life and experiences as a flight attendant. Which is interesting enough, but not quite what I was looking for. Just didn't engage me.

Do You like book Cruising Attitude: Tales Of Crashpads, Crew Drama, And Crazy Passengers At 35,000 Feet (2012)?

Hilarious! And sadly so many of the most unbelievable stories are so very true and accurate!

Humorous at times, yet, seems forced at times. More to entertain rather than inform.
