I've got to say I'm pleasantly surprised about this novella. I thought it was going to be a bit more BDSM than I typically would like. However the kink was mild and it did take a nice surprising, hot turn. Malcolm is a cocky little shit. He's a cynic hiding behind a veneer so people don't know who he really is. He's on the prowl when he runs into American tourist Owen.Owen can definitely hold his own and is not going to be pushed around unless he wants to be pushed. His genuineness is what wins Mal over, bringing down his carefully constructed walls and regimen, as these two spend a glorious weekend together. This was really more a sweet romance which I was totally fine with. I will read the sequel. A few pages in I didn't think I was going to like this. I wasn't all that keen on the hook-up scene and Malcolm wasn't winning a whole lot of points with his seduction routine. And then....When I thought it was going to be a pretty straightforward dom/sub story it turned that upside down. I absolutely loved it. I'm a sucker for a dom who thinks he's all that and then meets this hidden part of himself that loves to submit. Malcolm surrendering to Owen was a beautiful thing to behold. I loved the way their whole dynamic changed in the span of a weekend and layers of the MCs characters were revealed. Yes, there is insta love, but in the pressure cooker of having only a weekend, it worked pretty convingly.
Do You like book Country Mouse (2012)?
Great, vacillating power dynamics. Very hot. I"ll read again
