I would've finished this book a lot faster if it held my interest more than Plants Vs Zombies' online first person shooter game on my Play Station 3. (My newest addiction.) This is the 4th installment in this series. It was overall an entertaining read and I can't say I loved it or I hated it. It really didn't swing me either way. I can't really put my finger on why, but I think it's something to do with the fact that everything always goes in favor of the heroine or sets up for some next big, epic adventure. Her hair-brained schemes always work out in the end. Booooooring. I wonder if this is what ends up happening in a multi-book series. The formula that makes the first book so good gets recycled and overused. Hmmmmm, food for later thought.All the usual stuff is here... lots of muscles (both big and corded), a seemingly immortal assassin with no weakness that can do incredible feats, no one dies, ideas that probably wouldn't work end up working, the love interest is still emotionally unavailable, cliffhanger ending... meh. I will read the next book because I really want to see the conclusion. Though I hope I'm not disappointed with it working out exactly how I think it will. I like to be surprised! Review for entire EE series. No spoilers. I loved these books. The combination of action/adventure mixed with a pure improbability reminded me slightly of Tin Tin, except with a lot more laughs. I laughed a lot during these books! The characters are fun and interesting, the story is always unlikely and full of 'do you really think that is a good idea' moments. Just go with it and have a great time. In each book the author has two perspectives, the protagonist and another character - one book (or two parts) for each member of Amaranthe's team. I'm now scouring the rest of Lindsay's books for more stories of these characters!
