This was a quick sweet read about a girl who got terrible news from her doctor two years ago and will go to any measures to keep people from finding out. This includes her usual one-night stands. That is until Jillian Nichols meets Scottish exchange student, Liam McAlvoy. He has other plans and is going to work really hard to change her mind. Trouble is, when you are pushed away enough, sometimes it's easier just to stay away. While he was trying to catch Jill in the beginning she is now the one trying to catch Liam. Best parts of this book:- Liam: he was absolutely charming! He can make me waffles anytime.- The secondary characters were really fleshed out; in particular Jess. This has completely drawn me into the series and I can't wait for the next books. - Handling of Jillian's medical issues: I was a bit sceptical of it at first, particularly since her condition is so incredibly rare- but by the end of the book, I felt it was handled in a pretty realistic manner (in particular the doctor's scene and the exam final).- The ending! Alot of books in this new-adult genre follow a pretty standard formula of 1. two people get together, then 2. something drives them apart, followed by 3. a reunion. Sometimes the reunion happens so close to the end of the book that I'm screaming for just a little more- so that I can finally enjoy them together (which is what I've been waiting for, for the entire book)! Catching Liam generously gifts us with so many GOOD pages of the reunion and life after the reunion. I really enjoyed seeing them together for so long at the end- they seemed to resolve a lot of issues and ending up being a really strong couple.Cons:- Jill's mother Tara- It felt a little unresolved on this note and I really could not believe that someone would continue to act that way, considering the circumstances.
