About book Case Of The Mistaken Identity #1 The Brixton Brothers (2010)
Steve is an ordinary 7th grader who loves the Bailey Brothers Detective Handbook. He is assigned a social studies project on early American needlework. He isn't thrilled about the assignment but he goes to the library to do research. He checks out An Illustrated History of American Quilting for his project and the next thing you know, the building is being invaded by ninja librarians who hold a gun to his head. They accuse Steve of using this book to sell secrets to the enemy. The book has secret coding from the Library of Congress and the librarians are highly trained intelligence agents. They kidnap Steve and, because he doesn't want to be accused of treason, he escapes and goes on the run.Although,as an adult,I thought that the book became a little silly, I think that kids would really like it. It would appeal t reluctant readers and to kids who liked A Series of Unfortunate Events. Sometimes it is difficult to get kids interested in mysteries but this book (first in a series) would be a great suggestion for them. It is fast paced, has some over the top humor and Steve is a very likeable character. Recommend for ages 8 and up. (Jan) Title: The Case of the Case of Mistaken Author: Mac BarnettGenre: Mystery/AdventurePages: 179Date started: Feb 2ndDate ended: Feb 16th Steve Brixton has gotten himself into big, BIG, trouble. He’s now on the run from secret-agent librarians. Wait-librarians? Yup, librarians. It all started in the 1700s when Washington was president. He had too many secrets to maintain, and he needed people who were trustworthy. He needed people who were never to be suspected. He needed librarians. He had given a quilt to the librarians, and the quilt was modified by one person every year. But before telling any one how to crack the code to the quilt, the special person had died, leaving only one clue. ALL THE ANSWERS WERE HIDDEN IN A BOOK. This is where Steve Brixton got himself into this mess. When Steve checks out the “suspected” book (the book that all the librarians think the answers are in) for a school project, he becomes a person on the librarians watch list. He is now a person that the librarians think is a terrorist. He is now on the run, with nowhere, to go, nowhere to hide. The novel, The Case of The Case of The Mistaken Identity, is a novel that I would definitely give 5-5 stars. The reason that this novel got such positive reviews from me is because of the plot. This novel really builds up the conclusion of the novel, which is personally my favorite part. The conclusion of all mystery novels (especially this one) the readers aha moment. When Steve solved the case, I really felt happy that I had picked this novel as a book that I would read. I really would recommend this amazing novel to everyone. The Case of The Case of The Mistaken Identity is truly great, and I rave about it.
