Reading about Captain Marvel in the Dark Avengers Assemble book made me want to see what was happening to the Captain in the Marvel NOW universe. And, truth be told, it was a disappointing read. An unbalanced time traveling jaunt that doesn't really say much about her and that basically "solves itself," which is usually what seems to happen in time traveling / dimension hopping tales. This could be my anti-time travel / dimension hopping in graphic novel bias coming out, though. The artwork was all right and it was fun to see her smash things up, although she seems to be rather de-powered compared to other versions of her that I've seen. But I could've missed something re: Secret War, Siege, Dark Avengers, etc. Looking for the next volume to see if it changes! Absolutely wonderful. I'm not a huge fan of time travel, but it worked for me here. Carol finds herself tossed back in time and has to figure out how to get back to present day without screwing up the past...too much. I love how Carol's past and the connections she's forged with her friends plays into the plot. I'm definitely becoming a Kelly Sue DeConnick fan-girl. Can't wait to read more in this series.
Maybe it was all the hype and buzz, but I thought I would like this more than I did.
