2.5 rounded up to 3. Ever read a book that you felt should be really good. The ratings are great, the reviews are great, the blurb is great so you buy it and start reading it. I almost DNF'd it, but how can you DNF a book that is rated 4.5 stars. So I tried again and finished it but it was an effort. All the ingredients were there for a great story, H/h both beaten down by terrible events and people in their lives, finding and healing each other with their love, but the story was so disjointed, the writing overly (to me) wordy and so many characters to keep track of, it just didn't work for me. Sorry. Let me start off by saying, I have never read any of the other books in this series... and I wish I had. This can be a stand alone, but you don't want it to be. Holy Moly are these characters hot!Lisa N Paul told an emotional and gut wrenching story. She did it so well, you feel get so emotionally involved in these characters. Kyle is a big time jerk. You know there is an underlying reason he is. There has to be. No one is like that for no good reason. Kyle uses women and throws them out like trash. Then there is Cate. The total opposite of Kyle. She is sweet and caring. She has had a rough life as well, but seems to be handling it better. Cate doesn't do relationships. One nights stands are her thing. She doesn't want to get caught up in feelings that come with relationships. Then one night Cate and Kyle are thrown together. What starts out as a one night stand, may lead to more . Neither of them want more or see a relationship forming, but these two can't get enough of each other.Two broken and damaged souls each have so much to give, if they allow themselves to. Thanks to the secondary characters (their friends) they may get the chance to give it a go.
