The romance couple in this one is a Psy that has had her memory erased and been given compulsions to kill the human that she has been dumped off at his door. Dev is the leader of Shine, a group that tracks down descendants of Psy that refused the Silence and hid themselves so well that not even their children knew their past. Honestly it felt a bit silly the risks he was taking knowing she was was a trap and that as the story progressed she was also dying. The B story with the Psy did advance that plot line along pretty well and does change how the Council split is going along the Pure Psy lines. Life happened: a new job and a new puppy definitely intrudes on my reading time. This book also took me longer to read because I had a hard time getting into it. I wasn't interested in Dev and Katayas story and didn't feel encouraged to read. The last 20% of this book won me over and is the sole reason for four stars. I would have given it three but when a book makes me bust into tears in a break room filled with people then I know it's more deserving. I will say that while the drama is realistic, I'm finding that the author is scared to let anyone die. There is always something that happens where everyone lives and that isn't true of "war" situations. The pure raw emotion was beautifully written and I can't wait to see the rest of the story and how it progresses. One more thing, what the hell is up with this cover??
I wanted her to die but the kids were SO SO cute
