This is one of those books that seem to not go anywhere. I was hooked at the start of this series finding out about characters and the setting. Now that is all familiar and I feel stuck with an author that is settling on getting by with mundane events, no further character build-up on the main characters, and side-bar information that makes you want to either put down the book and pick up a good read or skip the chapter entirely. As always, I enjoy listening to the audio version of this series while I drive in the car. However, I probably looked like I had Tourette's as I voiced my many opinions on Dr. Laverty's "will Patricia/or won't Patrica" show up for Christmas after the 18th time of his feeling sorry for himself. As a recent medical student, you'd think he would be more sensitive to her inability to not drop her very busy engineering classes and promise to come home for the holiday. It took up so much of his thoughts that I wanted to scream. What is going to happen to their relationship AFTER she graduates and becomes an engineer? I realize it is the male mentality of the times, but I wanted to smack him. Then, on top of that, he is entertaining the idea of dating other women to get back at her if she 'chooses not to come'. Grow up asshole. His immaturity knocked him down a notch in my eyes. I'll continue with the next in the series, but I hope his character shows growth.
