If the story continued in the same fashion as the first 2/3rds, I would have given it 5 stars. I loved the story. I couldn't put it down, but the ending was hard to read. Same is a computer programmer and single. He develops the perfect algorithm to find your perfect match- soulmate. It works! He finds Meredith. Soon after meeting, Meredith looses her beloved grandmother and she pressures Sam into writing a program that will let her send emails to her grandmother and then receive a response. Then video chat is possible. They take this technology and start a business. Sam is a genius and a kind sweet person. Meredith is fun loving and kind. Great characters. This book is simply about loving,about loss, and about how the two connect. Those who think too much, who cannot help but say, "That could not happen," would not enjoy this book. I did enjoy it. We all grieve in different ways , yet most people want to tell us how to get past the pain of losing someone. In this novel the character Sam takes all of the traces of someone's life, the texts, emails, and video chats, and develops an algorithm to conjure up your dead loved one so you can now talk to him/her via computer. At the end of the book, I found myself wishing I could talk to my dad or to my grandma just to ask advice or to laugh at their words. The book stays with me, which is a great compliment to its author.
