I enjoyed the writing style and setting even if it did leave me with a eh feeling a lot of the time. I'll read the next in the series to see if it rounds out the story a little better. For a harlequin book it has very little steam and no heat. 376 pages and no sex between the characters. The will they/won't they played out so often that by the end you can't help but think they might as well not since they were obviously not into one another to just go for it. This had WAY less heat and chemistry in it then the inspirational Christian romances I've read.I read in a review the next book is a lot like this one. I think I'll pass after all. Took a while to warm up to this book because it starts with a bit of tragedy, but the story becomes more heartwarming as it goes. Also since I had previously read a book latter in the series I realize that the event set up what happens in subsequent books. RaeAnne Thayne creates characters you love, pity, and dislike just as it is in any group. She allows you to see the reasons behind the personality. It is hard in real life to remember that the "b" next door went through something that made her that way.
A good summer read, I enjoyed every minute and ignored some chores to read it.
