The story Wolf Brother by Michelle Paver is about a 12 year old boy named Torak that tries to save the great forest . Torak is part of the Wolf clan. There are many different Native tribes in the great forest. They are all named after an animal. Torak lived with his father in the forest. One day a demon bear attacked him and his father. Before his father died he told Torak to go to the mountain of the world spirit and ask for the world spirit to destroy the bear so that the bear would not destroy the forest. Torak escaped the bear and started his journey. Torak found a wolf cub and he was going to eat it but he could not. Torak named it wolf and they became friends. Torak found out that it was his guide that his father had told him about. Torak could communicate with him. They were on their way to the mountain of the world spirit when they were captured by 3 members from Raven clan. They were taken to their camp and Torak talked to the clan leader. Torak ended up fighting Hord and he won. The Raven clan decided that Torak was the one who could fulfill the prophecy and save the forest. Torak escapes the camp with the help of a girl named Renn. Renn tells Torak to find the 3 pieces of the Nanuak to please the world spirit so that it will help. They found the 3 pieces and were heading towards the mountain when they were captured by the Raven clan again. They decided to release their prisoners so they could fulfill the prophecy. While Torak and Wolf were going up the mountain, Hord attacked them because he thought he should be the one to do it. Wolf took the Nanuak and a rock slide hit Hord and the demon bear. Torak escapes and tries to find wolf but he can not. He only hears wolf howling. Torak howls back telling wolf that he will return to him one day and then Torak heads back to the forest. I really liked this book. I recommend it to everyone. It had a great plot that was unpredictable. I was not bored while reading it like I would be in some cases. It was exciting and fun to read, I couldn't wait to read what was gong to happen next. I thought it was really awesome how Torak could communicate with Wolf. Another thing I liked was the time period that it was set in. There was not any technology at all. I really enjoy books like that. I did not like how Torak's father died in the very beginning of the book. I also disliked the ending, it was a cliff hanger. I will have to read the next one. Overall I think that this book was very well written and it is a great story. It is perfect to read it and just relax.

This book is a amazing fantasy book. My teacher was reading this out loud and I decided to get the book myself. I was reading ahead of my teacher and class, and before I knew it I was convincing my mom to read it. I'm glad I found this series. It is amazing, suspenseful, and definitely not a kids book. Don't judge by the cover. It is actually pretty scary, violent, and extremely unique. It is one of my favorite books ever. Highly recommend.Content: PG - Scariness/Violence, and occasional kissing.

The setting in this book is in the woods six thousand years ago. When young Torak is left all alone after his father died he must remember all the things he was taught in order to survive on his own pg7-8. When evil has come over the land and is held within a bear, whom knows nothing but to kill, Torak and his wolf companion must conquer it together. But it's becomes hard when an Indian clan captures them and hold them hostage pg78-84. Can Torak and his wolf make it to the mountain in time before the bear is too powerful and destroys the forest?! I think this was a very well written book and keeps you on edge all the way through. The book included adventure, suspense, and an amazing plot. The book is set back in time and goes back to where there where a lot of different Indian clans. Also, you could almost relate to Torak and/or almost be in his shoes to the point of what should I do. The thing that shocked me though is how the author had real facts in the book that was about the food, clothing, and things they did for survival.I strongly recommend this book to people who like a book that keeps you on edge throughout the book. This would be a good book for people who like animals, adventure, and suspense. You might also want to read it for its ancient folklore or person vs nature conflicts. The beginning of the book pulls you in right away and you won't want to stop reading it. If you like a book with spirit this is the book.
