About book Who Stole The American Dream? Can We Get It Back? (2012)
A must read for anyone interested in the power struggles in economic, polictic and history that lead to the most significant wealth redistribution, creating a incredible wealth concentration among super-rich corporations, banks and individuals. How this happened through globalisation and computer information technology, through politic and information manipulation is well documented in this book. In 19th century factory, capitalists appropriated themselves the added value on products by using low wages and even working children 36 hours shift. All the gains that lead to building middle class protected by national boundaries are now in total jeopardy as Smith explains that not only factory work has been exported mostly to China but also office work and even research and development. Many computer engineers have seen their job gone to India and the political gridlock insured that laws favoring super rich entities are maintained as long as possible. For those who have not followed the news, this could be a rude awakening, but unfortunatly many have already suffered the consequences having lost their job and sometimes their home. This is really one of those must read books for the American individual. Almost everyone struggles to get ahead and yet it seems some policy or political adventure or predicament conjured up by someone turns our small world upside down. You may find you have worked your whole life to prepare for old age, but now you find your costs exceed your planned income, we are in wars we shouldn't be in causing huge expenses, perhaps you have lost your job or it has simply disappeared only to appear somewhere else in the world. And on and on and on. This book, non fiction, goes over the political parties the bankers and corporate executives, the wall street brokers, the Presidents, and individual politicians who all for individual power and wealth have spoon fed us their philosophies so we would follow. A little knowledge will go a long way, read this and learn how to preserve our country as it was created.
