The last of the Sweet Magnolia series finds Lynn Morrow who is in the process of a nasty divorce trying to put food on the table for her two children and keep the house they are living in, while her soon to be ex is consistantly going on so-called golf trips. She is working as many jobs as she can get to just make ends meet. Along with the help of her neighbor Raelynn. Mitch Franklin, a widower, who lost his wife and love of his life to a drunk driver is the contractor who is doing the remodeling at Raelynns house. He has known Lynn most of his life and had a huge crush on her in school but she was to infatuated with Ed, so he never pursued her. Mitch is trying to help Lynn and her children as much as she will let him, but Lynn has her pride and her ex keeps making her life difficult. But Ed's life is going to become even more than hers. This was a great ending to the series. With economic times hard all over, especially a single mother of two, it was very true to life and the characters were strong and believable. Mitch reminded me so much of a man I know in my life. The ending was unpredictable and exciting. I will miss all you people in Serenity. Lynn Morrow doesn't expect her husband Ed to walk out on her, asking for a divorce. She never saw it coming and to make matters worse, he left her and the two kids without food and without paying the mortgage. Lynn only has a part-time job, and it doesn't look like she is going to get much in the way of support from Ed. She has to do something - and fast.Mitch Franklin is a widower with two college kids. After awhile, and with the help of some good friends, Mitch climbed his way out of the haze and began to resume his life. He's been working on a remodel for a couple he is friends with - neighbors to Lynn. When they are both invited to dinner, the sparks begin to fly. Mitch used to have a crush on Lynn back in high school, but she didn't reciprocate. She only had eyes for Ed then. But Mitch can't sleep knowing Lynn and her kids are struggling, when he can help. Not to mention, that over time, she's just become more gorgeous to him. Can Lynn give Mitch another shot? Will Mitch see Lynn more than just a damsel in distress once the fires have been put out?Woods pulls out all of the stops with her last book in the Sweet Magnolias trilogy. She wraps up some open-ended story-lines from the first two books, as well as takes her readers into an emotional journey filled with heartbreak, healing, grief and finding love blossom. The characters are realistic and modern, and the writing is top-notch. While Where Azaleas Bloom can be read as a standalone book, you won't want to miss the first two in the series, Midnight Promises and Catching Fireflies!
