3 STARS - I LIKED ITAUDIOBOOKThis historical romance is set around the turn of the century when cars were just starting to make an appearance but horse and carriage were still the primary source of travel. This was a well written book with a decent storyline and I enjoyed getting to know these characters. I did start to lose patience with the leading lady in this story because Ms. Guhrke dragged out the relationship protests too long, as is typical in romance books. I really like when authors surprise me and don't follow the boring typical romance formulas.Still, I enjoyed this book and would consider reading this author again. Audiobook borrowed from library. This is my first LLG read. I actually did borrow the ebook after as well to do a quick reread mainly because I couldn't make out some of the names eg Thebes sounded like thieves to my ears lol.So I really enjoyed this. It's my first 20th century historical romance and although I thought that wouldn't be a big deal, it was significantly different enough with women recently learning how to drive automobiles, women starting to want careers and birth control playing a role in this novel. LLG writes beautifully and I felt the pacing was just right for me. The storyline is something that I found appealing; childhood sweethearts, hero has to woo heroine after a 6 year disappearance and she hates him on sight now. I didn't like Will for a lot of the story, I thought he was arrogant to think he could just waltz back into Trix's arms but reluctantly he became worthy of her. The last chapter was just splendid, I loved it so much!! P.s. I felt bad for Aidan but then discovered the next book in the series is about him and Julia :)
Do You like book Wedding Of The Season (2010)?
Too modern for my usual taste...motor cars and the like.
