As I have been reading a lot of darker novels lately, I deliberately picked an easy chick-lit book on audio, so I shall try not to poke too many holes in the story. I enjoyed the camp life as teenagers vs the 20 years later storytelling, and the message that being thin, rich & pretty won't magically make your life better. However, it was unrealistic that Lexie would be unmarried at her age, and perhaps the leap from camp days to present day should have been about 15 years instead of 20 to make some plot holes diminish. An enjoyable light read. Beth Harbison delivers yet another relaxing but semi intelligent chic lit novel. This is the third of fourth book I have read by this author, and I love all of them. The characters are real and likeable, the plot seems natural and everything just works perfectly. 'Thin, Rich, Pretty' follows the lives of three females, and splits between summer camp when they are thirteen and twenty years later when they are in their early thirties. Each of the three characters wishes to be either rich, thin or pretty. In this novel they realise that getting what they wanted isn't necessarily going to make them happy. I love the journey each of the characters takes, and I love how the story finishes.
Do You like book Was Ik Maar (2011)?
I listened to this as an audiobook and it was good clean entertainment in the car. It was something that was ok to be listening to when my kids were with me and was just a fun chick lit novel with a good dose of humor and with some lessons in life to be learned. I am giving this book 3 stars but I'm not saying it was a bad book. I liked it quite a bit. It just wasn't anything deep or literary in any way. This would be an author I would add to the list of authors that I would like to read if I just needed a break from heavy reading and I will definitely be reading more from Harbison. 3 stars.

Holly, Nicola and Lexi truly demonstrated the fact that being thin, rich or pretty isn't always what it is cracked up to be. After spending years trying to attain their dreams to look the right way Holly and Nicola were both disappointed in the results. They finally realized that things were not as bad as they had always thought. It took Lexi having to lose everything in order to understand how unhappy she had truly been. The journey to these discoveries were filled with humour, good friends and a touch of romance. Not a bad journey at all!
