SPOILER ALERTWhat is it with ALWAYS killing off the black characters! For goodness sake, there was only one! I feel the same about most fantasy with diversity. Either the brown people are the bad ones or if a main character--get killed off (or are the 1 character who never gets a HEA). Same disappointment I felt with X-Men 1st Gen.I kid you not, as soon as it became obvious that that Jett and Kiri were in 'like', I knew he was going to die. Sigh.....So far, the only series left that I have any hope for is Lightbringer by Brent Weeks. Oh my goodness. I cannot believe how much I loved this book. Okay, so, the first one was wonderful (I also gave it five stars), but Venom and Song beats it by a mile. The action was fast paced and the story line picked up right where Curse of the Spider King left off, which I like much better then reading the first few pages of the sequel to find that a bunch of time has passed. The only disappointment I had with this book is that the authors kept screwing up who was who. Yes, they got all the physical characteristics correct on a regular basis, but sometimes I would find that one of the characters talking wasn't even supposed to be there! But, no matter how confusing it was at times, I loved it all the same. Their mistakes weren't enough for me to take even .1 of its five stars away. Venom and Song is getting my full five.
Do You like book Venom And Song (2010)?
Must start with book one. Huge cast of characters. Geeky 6th and 7th graders will really like it.
