I didn't expect to find this series as ridiculously enjoyable as I did. It's pure shojo fluff of the highest grade. The artwork is excellent and the plot generally fast moving. The characters are very likeable, although the heroine can come off a bit bratty at first. However, she improves fast, and I love the fact that she has skills and a passion in life other than being kawaii and chasing some boy she hardly knows! I really like the way she and the guy she eventually falls for encourage each other in the pursuits they love. The series may occasionally fall back on shojo cliches, but it makes up for them with sheer charm and fun. If you're looking for a feel-good read and don't mind utter, unashamed girliness (it does revolve around a bridal boutique, after all) give it a try!It's a shame it's no longer being published; I would love it if someone else would pick up the license. This was another grab at my Border's going out of business sale. I was in the mood for some light shoujo manga, and this fit the bill perfectly. V. B. Rose is a bridal shop run by two young, handsome men (what else would you expect from a shoujo manga?). At the start of this series, we meet young high school girl Ageha who has a knack for making accessories (mostly bags and purses) with a trademark butterfly pattern or imprint (her name means "swallowtail"). Her bags have become very popular by word-of-mouth and are known on the street as "the Ageha series." Ageha's older sister, who she idolizes, suddenly announces that she is pregnant and will be getting married to her boyfriend (the father of her child). Ageha has a major sister complex and acts up horribly because she feels like her sister has become someone she doesn't know anymore. Her sister decides to have a gown hand-designed by the gents at VBR, and Ageha - who tags along because she loves all things "bridal" - at first makes a very bad impression on the temperamental owner (Yukari) with her bad behavior and tantrums. However, Yukari and Mitsuya (VBR partners) are fans of Ageha's work and, through a twist of circumstance, allow her to come and work part-time at VBR to help complete her sister's dress. This, of course, turns out to be the perfect job for Ageha and, of course, her relationship with Yukari and Mitsuya improves dramatically as both gents start to feel affection for Ageha.Like I said, a good light-hearted series with a little romance, lots of frills and lace, and some good humor throughout. I'll keep reading for sure...
