I get them periodically as gifts and have stack 10 books high but have never been really motivated to try her out; contemporary romance is just not my bread and butter.However, I did put this as a choice for my book club and when it was turned down, decided now's better than never to try. After reading, I really don't understand why she has so many books published. I just don't think she's that good.Firstly, I would rate this closer to 2.5 but I think that's being generous. The writing isn't terrible, the plot isn't a yawn, but there really is no substance. And I don't mean up-all-night, 'let me ponder the questions of life' substance. It was as wispy as a cloud of smoke, disintegrating into the black of night with no remains that it ever existed other than perhaps a faint scent. Gabi and Wade's story did not endear me to them. I felt no chemistry, no affection, no anything between the characters. The words just felt as dry as the paper they were printed on. I can't say if this was her style of writing or just my overbearing bias to contemporary romance but I can't really believe I will ever reach again for a Woods' book. Too bad that there's 10 other sitting in my library...
